Join Soledad for a Facebook Live Panel

Please join us on Facebook Live this Wednesday, April 12th at 7PM ET when award-winning journalist and producer Soledad O’Brien, host of Hearst Television’s syndicated weekend political-discussion program “Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien,” moderates a panel discussion about the sex-trafficking crisis and its growing reality right here in the United States.

Joining Soledad will be Mary Mazzio, director of the forthcoming Netflix documentary film  I AM JANE DOE, and famed attorney David Boies.

I Am Jane Doe, narrated by Academy Award-nominee Jessica Chastain and debuting next month on Netflix, dramatically frames the sex-trafficking crisis for viewers.  The problem is startling; just in the United States, more than 7,500 cases were reported in 2016 alone, according to the Human Trafficking Hotline.

Mr. Boies – among America’s most renowned litigators, whose clients have included Al Gore, in Bush v. Gore, and the US Justice Dept. itself, in United States v. Microsoft — has filed a complaint in federal court against an alleged purveyor of child sex-trafficking ads.

The panel discussion marks Soledad’s continued focus on this important story.    In a February 2017 “Matter of Fact” interview about her advocacy on behalf of child victims and her push for fresh legislation, Cindy McCain, wife of U.S. Senator John McCain, told Soledad that, on one website it is easier to buy a child “than it is to buy a sofa or a motorcycle.”
