An unprecedented number of women are putting their names on the ballot, looking to close the political gender gap. Currently, women only make up about 25 percent of elected positions in federal, state and local government. Grassroots organizations, however, are working to change that ratio. Maggie’s List – named for Margaret Chase Smith, the first woman elected to both the House and the Senate – specifically works with conservative female candidates, providing political advise and support. Soledad O’Brien sits down with Maggie’s List Executive Director Missy Shorey to discuss the importance of promoting conservative women, the struggles all female candidates face, and Shorey’s advice on how to address Pres. Trump.
