Since the end of the recession, the manufacturing industry has been growing – both in production output and the availability of jobs. But today jobs don’t look like they used to; employers are now looking for a “skilled-labor” workforce. According to Deloitte and the Manufacturing Institute, in the next decade, the industry will need to fill 3.5 million jobs, but they expect employers will still be missing close to 2 million workers. Jessica Gomez visited training programs in Iowa and Wisconsin to find out more about collaborative efforts between local colleges and the next generation of manufacturing jobs.
