Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) is harshly critical of the Obama administration’s strategy in the war on terror, calling his peaceful withdrawal a miserable failure.

“We have so many threats – ISIS one of them – because of Pres. Obama’s peaceful withdrawal, which has been a miserable failure,” Johnson says. “So these threats that we face from Islamic terror are real. They are growing.”

So far, President Obama’s strategy has been to degrade and defeat ISIS using military personnel well as remotely operated air and drone strikes. After once calling the Islamic State “the JV team,” Obama has sharpened his language and toughened his approach in response to ISIS’ growth in support and resources. Johnson, chair of the Homeland Security Committee, says it has to go farther than that.

“We can’t just defeat one group in this place, kind of pat our hands and say ‘OK, we are done with it; we’ve fixed this problem.’ This is going to be a long term struggle. We have got to be the leader of a committed coalition of the willing, of the civilized world, to once and for all defeat Islamic terror.”

One way to ensure our country’s security, Johnson says, is to secure the southern border. He confirmed that there have been no reported instances of terrorists entering the US through the Mexico border, however he says there is evidence of potential operatives currently residing in South America.
