The new administration, through the Justice Department, is promising tough action against sanctuary cities while reexamining police reform agreements, possibly nullifying some of those orders. Mayor Ras Baraka of Newark, NJ is putting his city in conflict with the Attorney General’s plans; he says Newark will be keeping their policing agreements and will continue to operate as a sanctuary city, despite the threat of losing federal funding.
