On his first day in office, President Donald Trump signed the “Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing” executive order to terminate diversity, equity and inclusion in the federal government. Several major corporations have also started rolling back their DEI programs. Alphonso David is a civil rights lawyer and the president and CEO of the Global Black Economic Forum. He joins Soledad O’Brien to explain the origins of DEI and how it benefits companies and their employees.
