A record number of people are being displaced around the world with an average of 24 people a minute being forced to flee their homes. According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, at the end of 2015, over 65.3 million were reported displaced. It was the first year in the history of the UNHCR that the number reached over 60 million. Nearly 21.3 million of those people are refugees and over half are children under the age of 18. As refugees search for a secure place to land they are flooding into Europe, creating some instability and backlash against immigrants as whole. Kurt Volker, former NATO Ambassador, sits down with Soledad O’Brien to discuss the impact on Europe and balancing our national security needs with our humanity.
