A new space race is breathing new life into the space coast. When NASA retired the space shuttle program in 2011, the future of the Kennedy Space Center and its home county seemed bleak. But just last month, SpaceX destroyed one of its own rockets clearing the final hurdle to prove it can avoid a Challenger-like disaster if it sends humans into space.
