With nearly 19 million veterans in the United States, their service expertise is often seen as an asset in civilian jobs. But there are relatively few veterans working in the halls of Congress. According to HillVets.org less than 2 percent of staffers working on Capitol Hill are veterans. Yet these same staffers inform House and Senate members on issues and policy decisions involving all aspects of the military community. Justin Brown, a Navy veteran and a senior Committee staffer says he wants to change that dynamic. He is the founder of a bipartisan organization, HillVets.
